CENTCOM AOR — The U.S. Marine Corps has deployed the Light Marine Air Defense Integrated System (LMADIS) to the Middle East with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU). The deployment provides mobile, expeditionary counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) coverage designed to protect maneuver forces, high-value assets, and amphibious shipping from low-cost, asymmetrical drone threats.

Operating as a two-vehicle tactical team mounted on Polaris MRZR / Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles (ULTV), LMADIS delivers on-the-move electronic warfare (EW) attack, target tracking, and 360-degree radar surveillance. The system is specifically engineered to defeat Class 1 and Class 2 small unmanned aerial vehicles (sUAS) operating in contested electromagnetic environments.

TACTICAL ARCHITECTURE & OPERATIONAL PROFILE

LMADIS utilizes a distributed command-and-control framework split across a pair of highly mobile light tactical vehicles:

* Command & Control (C2) Node: Serves as the primary operational hub, integrating sensor data, battlefield management software, and Beyond Line-of-Sight (BLOS) communication links to coordinate engagements with joint air defense networks.
* Sensor & Electronic Attack Node: Houses the primary sensor payload and electronic countermeasure (ECM) equipment to perform target detection, visual identification, and non-kinetic defeat.
* Expeditionary Mobility: Compact form factor allows internal transport via MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft and CH-53E/K heavy-lift helicopters, enabling rapid deployment from amphibious assault ships directly to shore or remote forward operating bases.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: LIGHT MARINE AIR DEFENSE INTEGRATED SYSTEM (LMADIS)

* Vehicle Platform: Dual Polaris MRZR D4 / Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV) 4×4
* Target Profile: Class 1 and Class 2 Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS), commercial off-the-shelf multirotors, and loitering munitions
* Air Surveillance Radar: RADA RPS-42 3D Tactical Hemispheric Radar providing 360-degree azimuth detection and tracking against low-RCS threats
* Electronic Warfare Suite: Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) Modi II Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) system for radio frequency (RF) jamming, command data-link disruption, and satellite navigation spoofing
* Electro-Optical/Infrared Sensor: CM262 / EO-IR gyro-stabilized optical turret for real-time visual tracking and target verification
* Crew Complement: 4-man Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) team
* Defeat Mechanism: Non-kinetic high-power electronic attack / RF disruption
