ANKARA — The President of the Turkish Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB), Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, has confirmed that serial production processes for both the HÜRJET advanced jet trainer / light attack aircraft and the KAAN 5th-generation stealth fighter are progressing, with initial deliveries to the Turkish Air Force (TurAF) set to commence. Speaking following the handover of the first two HÜRKUŞ-II basic trainers, Görgün highlighted that design, manufacturing, flight-testing, and systems integration expertise cultivated during the HÜRKUŞ-II program is being directly transferred into the HÜRJET and KAAN industrial workflows.
With ground and flight test evaluation regimes intensifying for the KAAN prototype fleet, TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries) and an industrial network of approximately 100 domestic subcontractors are scaling production lines to meet inventory integration schedules. The structured transition from turboprop trainers (HÜRKUŞ-II) to supersonic jet trainers (HÜRJET) and 5th-generation combat aircraft (KAAN) underscores Türkiye’s maturing military aviation sector, establishing serial assembly pipelines backed by localized sub-assemblies, rigorous cost tracking, and supply chain management.
