ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Mack Defense has unveiled its line-haul hybrid-electric tractor prototype developed under the U.S. Army’s Common Tactical Truck (CTT) program at the AUSA 2026 Annual Meeting and Exposition. Derived from the commercially proven Mack Granite heavy-duty truck platform, the prototype is engineered to address the critical challenges of contested logistics by reducing fuel consumption, enhancing vehicle survivability, and delivering high-capacity exportable electrical power to forward-deployed forces.

The Common Tactical Truck effort aims to replace aging legacy heavy tactical fleets—including the M915 Line Haul Tractor and M1088 Medium Tactical Vehicle—with a modern, common chassis architecture. Mack Defense’s hybrid solution integrates a high-efficiency diesel-electric powertrain with drive-by-wire controls, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and an autonomy-ready electronic backbone. By generating off-board electrical power, the platform functions as a mobile microgrid capable of powering command posts, sensor arrays, and energy storage systems in austere operational environments without requiring dedicated generator sets.
