ATHENS, Greece — Following the 6th round of the U.S.-Greece Strategic Dialogue co-chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis in Athens, the U.S. Department of State and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced an expanded bilateral defense framework encompassing $4 billion in U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
As part of the initiative, Greece will receive U.S. Stryker 8×8 Armored Fighting Vehicles to upgrade the Hellenic Army’s mechanized infantry transport capabilities. The transfer complements broader defense modernization efforts, including weapons for F-16 Viper and F-35 fighter fleets, the upgrade of ~38 additional F-16s to Viper configuration, and Follow-On Support (FOS) contracts incorporated into Greece’s Unified Medium-Term Defence Development and Modernisation Programme.
