ŁASK, Poland — The Polish Air Force (Siły Powietrzne) took delivery of its ninth F-35A Lightning II “Husarz” multirole stealth fighter at the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. The ferry flight represents a major milestone for European defense manufacturing, marking the first Polish F-35 produced at the Final Assembly and Check Out (FACO) facility in Cameri, Italy, as well as the 100th total F-35 airframe delivered from the Italian site.
The Cameri FACO facility—owned by the Italian Ministry of Defence and operated by Leonardo in industrial partnership with Lockheed Martin—is the sole F-35 final assembly, checkout, and Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul, and Upgrade (MRO&U) hub in Europe. The facility handles local production of F-35A CTOL and F-35B STOVL variants for Italy, the Netherlands, and Poland, alongside the fabrication of full wing-sets for the global F-35 fleet.
