STAFFORD, Va. — BAE Systems Land & Armaments (in partnership with Iveco Defence Vehicles) has been awarded a $230.1 million contract modification by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command to procure 32 Amphibious Combat Vehicle Recovery (ACV-R) variants under Full-Rate Production (FRP) Lot 4. The contract expansion covers platform manufacturing, systems integration, initial fielding logistics, and field support services, raising the total cumulative value of the overarching ACV procurement program to approximately $4.1 billion.
The ACV-R variant replaces legacy AAVR-7A1 assault amphibious recovery vehicles, providing critical field maintenance, mobile repair, field towing, and heavy recovery capabilities to Assault Amphibian Battalions. Equipped with a heavy-duty hydraulic recovery winch, synthetic tow cables, and an integrated crane architecture, the ACV-R is designed to recover disabled 35-ton class ACV variants—including the ACV-Personnel (ACV-P), ACV-Command (ACV-C), and 30mm cannon-armed ACV-30—under contested sea-state and cross-country operational conditions. Production and integration work will be performed across BAE facilities in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, California, Michigan, and Virginia, with final deliveries scheduled for completion by November 2028.
