REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. — The U.S. Army has awarded five separate Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements to develop prototype missile configurations for the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Increment 4 program. The selected defense contractors—Anduril, Castelion, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Mach Industries, and RTX—will engineer competing long-range strike platforms capable of doubling the baseline PrSM engagement range to 1,000 kilometers or greater.
Designed for operational deployment across the Indo-Pacific and European theaters, the PrSM Increment 4 missile will retain dimensional compatibility with the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and M270A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). The weapon system incorporates advanced propulsion, aerodynamic airframe designs, and multi-mode seeker suites enabling precision kinetic destruction of moving maritime vessels and relocatable land-based air defense, command-and-control, and ballistic missile assets in heavily contested A2/AD and GPS-denied environments. The phased acquisition strategy will culminate in an initial competitive flight test down-select in FY2027, followed by final prototype flight evaluations planned for FY2028.
