ST. LOUIS — The Department of the Air Force has awarded Boeing a $2.38 billion contract for 22 additional F-15EX Eagle II multirole fighters under Lot 7 production. The award brings the total number of F-15EX aircraft under firm contract to 120 across seven production lots, accelerating the replacement of aging F-15C/D fleets and reinforcing heavy-payload tactical fighter capacity.
The procurement expands the U.S. Air Force’s projected F-15EX fleet footprint to 269 aircraft—a significant increase from earlier planned targets of 129 units. To meet expanding fleet demand and support forward deployments, Boeing and USAF program management are scaling manufacturing operations at the St. Louis facility to achieve a steady-state production throughput of two F-15EX aircraft per month. Operating as a 4.5-generation heavy fighter, the F-15EX combines an extended 20,000-flight-hour airframe life with advanced digital fly-by-wire controls, open-architecture avionics, and high-capacity missile carriage designed to launch outsized standoff and hypersonic munitions.
