MEXICO CITY — The Mexican Air Force (Fuerza Aérea Mexicana – FAM) has expanded its tactical air transport capabilities following the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules airlifter. The delivery doubles Mexico’s fleet of current-generation Super Hercules aircraft, solidifying the nation’s position as the pioneer operator of the C-130J variant in Latin America.
The procurement forms the cornerstone of Mexico’s long-term recapitalization program to replace its legacy fleet of older C-130 variants operated over the past five decades. By fielding the C-130J-30—the extended-fuselage variant of the platform—Mexico significantly enhances its operational capacity for military logistics, search and rescue (SAR), regional security maneuvers, and rapid humanitarian assistance/disaster relief (HA/DR) missions across Central and South America.
