WARSAW / SYDNEY — Australian navigation technology manufacturer Advanced Navigation has secured an $18.5 million contract to supply its Boreas Digital Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (DFOG) Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) for Kongsberg’s PROTECTOR counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) platforms bound for Poland.

The integration forms a critical component of Poland’s SAN C-UAS program—a $1.5 billion (NOK 16 billion) initiative contracted between Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, state-owned defense group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), and Advanced Protection Systems (APS). Under the program, Poland is acquiring 18 C-UAS batteries (comprising 52 firing platoons and over 700 vehicles) equipped with 35mm, 30mm, and 12.7mm kinetic effectors, guided rockets, and interceptor drones mounted on PROTECTOR Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) and Medium Caliber Turrets (MCT30).

By integrating hundreds of Boreas D90 FOG-based navigation units, Kongsberg’s weapon stations and sensor turrets gain high-precision, continuous position, orientation, and heading tracking without relying on satellite navigation. This capability ensures that Polish anti-drone batteries maintain full target acquisition, tracking, and weapons-cueing capabilities even when operating under heavy electronic warfare, high-latitude GPS jamming, and GNSS spoofing.
