TIMES OF DEFENCE ASSESSMENT

ASFAT’s participation at EURONAVAL 2026 underscores Türkiye’s emergence as a major global exporter of military naval platforms. Over the past decade, Turkish naval defense exports have evolved from sub-component sales to multi-ship warship export agreements.

From a naval engineering and defense industrial perspective, ASFAT’s model presents three strategic advantages:

Public-Private Industrial Bridge: Operating under the Ministry of National Defence allows ASFAT to utilize sovereign naval shipyards and military maintenance facilities without requiring new capital-intensive shipyard construction, providing competitive cost and delivery timelines for foreign client navies.

Proven MİLGEM Export Track Record: Delivering PN MİLGEM corvettes to Pakistan and Hisar-class OPVs to the Turkish Navy establishes ASFAT as a combat-proven warship prime capable of executing complex naval engineering contracts.

Turn-Key Transfer of Technology (ToT): Rather than offering simple platform sales, ASFAT’s engagement strategy focuses on local infrastructure creation—allowing foreign navies to build, maintain, and upgrade warship fleets locally.
